The Game Boy, released in Japan in April 1989, followed by North America in July 1989, is a portable, handheld gaming console developed and manufactured by Nintendo. Characterized by its chunky gray design, monochrome screen, and iconic directional pad and button layout, the Game Boy offered a gaming experience on the go, introducing many to the joy of mobile gaming. A significant factor behind the Game Boy's success was its game library, with titles like "Tetris" (which came bundled with the system in North America) and the "Pokémon" series driving sales.
